Beautiful Hotel - Great Bartender
The hotel was beautiful. We had an ocean front room and I couldn’t have been happier. However, the entire hotel is apparently non-smoking (i don’t smoke but my fiancee does). We were asked to sign a waiver saying that we would pay a $250 "cleaning fee" if we were caught smoking in our room, or even on our balcony. However it’s apparently ok to smoke on your balcony if you are on the ground floor, and it’s ok to smoke in the pool area. Other guests we spoke to who smoke were not asked to sign a waiver. The location is perfect if you want to be near the ocean, it’s right on the beach. But if you want to shop or have some night life, you will need to call a cab. Although there are buses, we walked for over an hour and never saw one going in the direction we were walking (towards commercial). And there are no cabs just driving around looking for fares until you get down near commercial. The hotel was beautiful, I do not recommend eating breakfast there though. The highlight was definitely the pool-side bartender Steve. Just because he was so great and made our vacation so much more fun, we will likely stay there again next time we go to Ft. Lauderdale.
We went off-season in October, a lot of the smaller businesses were closed for the season, no where we went was crowded, we never had to wait to be seated at a restaurant, the weather was still in the upper 80’s and the shops that were open had great discounts.

Great place to stay
Old Florida ambience in a great location. Older but well-maintained hotel/resort with excellent customer service. Try it, you’ll like it.
