Hard to Find, but Friendly
This is a typical beach hotel; family oriented, lots of kids, lots of play and pampering places, only there is only about 10 feet of beach. Folks swim off the dock in wonderfully clear waters. Travelers wanting more sophistication in their hotel, or access to sites may want to try elsewhere.

OK place, but not great
Our room, like the other reviewer was up the two elevators etc, but we were put in a very small room with no view and barely a window (no balcony). The room was also in need of sprucing up a bit. The staff was friendly and spoke english. Everything was OK, but I had hoped for more.

There are several good resturants right on the water. Great view and delicious local seafood.

Large resort with friendly staff
The "Four Flowers" resort is a large complex of four hotels on the waterfront of beautiful Opatija. The staff at the front desk provided cheerful and helpful service at our arrival in fluent English. The dining room is very large with a wide variety of great food on the buffet. The only downside we found was related to the size of the resort and the compexities of building into a hillside. To get to our room we had to use two different elevators. The first required carrying our luggage up half a flight of stairs to reach the elevator entrance. This took us to the upper level terrace where we had to to around the corner to our building and go back down one level. But the room was spacious and very clean with a large balcony, and the beach in front of the hotel is beautiful. There is also a large public park only a short walk from the resort with very peaceful trails winding through the trees and rock formations.
Traveller's tip on getting the most out of your stay
The promenade along the waterfront at Opatija provides a wonderful walk, passing the many old mansions and hotels built during the Austrian occupation of Croatia prior to WWI. It is a great way to enjoy the beauty of the northern Adriatic coast.
