Details in housekeeping and cooking need attention

This is a friendly and comfotable hotel in an excelllent location. It offers full service including a creditable cafe with terrace, pub, restaurant and room service. Very good staff. The overall experience is slightly marred by the occasional lapse in the detail such windows that remained uncleaned from my previous visit. Whilst the restaurant is good, I have not found that it met the high culinary aspirations that it asserts.

If you ask for a room overlooking the cathedral close you will be able to enjoy an outstanding view of the cathedral from your bed.

perfect location

My wife and I had not visited Exeter before but were delighted with the fact the hotel is right in front of the Chathedral. We ate in Michael Caines cafe (out front actually) and had a very reasonably priced meal. We were able to walk from the train station-10 minutes of level street walking. I should add that there was a music festival (rock) on the area in front of the Cathedral the night we were there and we didn’t hear the music even though we went to bed early: the beds were good as well.

Traveller's tip on getting the most out of your stay

Redcoat tours are right in front of the hotel and one is close to shopping of all sorts. Go to evensong-what a treat-boys and mens choirs
