Great place for a break

This was our honeymoon trip, and it was just about perfect. The staff are really attentive, and it seemed like every one of them was taking personal responsibility for making sure we were looked after. We arrived on an early flight, but a room was made available within an hour. The transfer went smoothly, and the rep was very helpful. We got a ’lagoon view’ room, that still had a great view of the sea, which was turned down three times a day. The food was good and plentiful, although the veggie options were a bit limited, and the entertainments were varied and high quality. Drinks and food prices are at hotel levels and in Euros, so if you’re half-board you might want to get a taxi to the local supermarket for supplies. The Connections excursions were well organised, and the guides friendly and enthusiastic. For our last week, we booked a taxi from the stand outside the hotel to see the island. Don’t leave Ile aux Cerfs too late - you’ll probably want to get back! Expect to haggle when shopping but we didn’t find the prices for clothes to be any cheaper than the UK though. If you’re looking for souvenirs, look in Mahebourg as they’re significantly cheaper than the shops elsewhere. When we went over it was Rs50 = 1 pound so if you want an easy way to convert without using a calculator, multiply the Rupee figure by 2 and knock off the last two digits, so Rs1000 = 1000x2 = 2000 = 20.00 or so. Overall, this was a great holiday in a good location, and we’d definitely go back.

Traveller's tip on getting the most out of your stay

Rather than hire a car, book a taxi for a day. It worked out at 44 rather than 55 pounds per day, and you don’t have to worry about traffic jams, unknown roads or parking, and you get a guide thrown in. If you book Mr Gunglee from the taxis outside the hotel (+230 7825698), tell him that John and Bel say hi.

Lovely place

Le Preskil was a lovely place to spend a couple of days between Madagascar and Sri Lanka. Rooms near the dining room are somewhat noisy, Food was good. A changing room and shower made a late night flight out of Mauritius more convenient.

Highly recommended!

We spent a thoroughly enjoyable two weeks at this resort. The range of water sports available was excellent - free lessons for sailing, water skiing and wind surfing were available from friendly and encouraging staff. The location of the resort is very picturesque and convenient to the airport. We were initially wrried that the sound of aircraft would be very noticeable, but this proved not to be the case. The food was of a consistently high standard, as was the level of guest services. The management team were visible and responsive - highly recommended for a truly relaxing holiday!
