Hotel Royal - Thessaloniki, Greece
I received a free upgrade to a suite from the hotel because the room I reserved through Expedia was the last room in the hotel that night. The hotel staff were friendly and helpful, the dining room was very good and it is a 10 minute ride to the airport. The hotel sits up on a hillside that overlooks the airport, the Aegean Sea and olive orchards. Despite the proximity to the airport it is a nice, quiet setting.

Good price for piece and quiet
Near airport but a little far from town. An adequate, cheap bus service runs from the busy road 200m away which necessitates a change en route to the town center. Helpful staff in spite of poor English. Good wireless internet connections.

Lovely hotel, shame the Pool had no water in it and the dinner menu was not in stock!
We were surprised to see what a lovely hotel this was, but were very dissapointed when the pool was empty (no water) and the hotel and rooms were on about 25’c day and night. The outside temp was 20 - 25’c the whole week we were there and it would have been nice to spend it by the pool enjoying a swim.
Traveller's tip on saving a few bucks
the local buses were great. for only 60 cents you could hop on and off for 70 minutes in any direction. they went everywhere and were quite frequent. just make sure you have the correct change as its a self service machine. also 24 hour tickets available for 2 euros.
