4 star hotel at best

First of all, this hotel is very far (3/4 mile) from the nearest tube station. Second, the room we stayed in was pretty dirty and much smaller than depicted in the photos. Third, our room with a "partial river view" had a view of the abandoned building next door, the train tracks and, if I craned my neck and used a hand mirror, the river. The train tracks are very loud and the washer/dryer combo simply did not work. Other than that, the hotel is not too bad. For the price, it is a pretty good 3.5 to 4 star hotel. I wouldn’t stay here again just because it very far out of the way.

Traveller's tip on dining

The Rose, a great gastropub, is less than a block away. Good and cheap food and drinks. The Trout inn is another great pub just across Vauxhall bridge. Milbank Spice is a great Indian restaurant a block or so away from the Trout Inn

Perhaps a river view.

This accommodation is well situated for sightseeing particularly along the South Bank and all the Arts venues. The view from the room was a bit disappointing as we had a side facing suite and obstructed view of the Thames and no view of Parliament at all. Staff were very helpful and accommodating and fixed any problems very promptly. Self catering suites are very well equipped and the proximity of a small grocer’s shop was really good. Restaurant was pricey and not that great. Bar prices average and service excellent.

Traveller's tip on local attractions

Ask for a front facing room/suite to enhance your stay. Buy an Oyster card to get good deal on buses and tube.

Not a 5 star - but good.

The hotel is one of the better hotels, however it is in no way a 5 star hotel by international standards, more like a good 3. Upsides first: Hotel room view outstanding, kitchen equiped very well, large American siized beds, decent bar, and breakfast, although very expensive. Downsides; Hotel room looked well used, especially the floor, noisy wedding discos until late at night, our floor was being painted when we arrived, with no apologie for the smell etc, room service was poor and only happened when we complained. However putting all of this together we would still go back just for the view of the houses of parliment from our room and the great kitchen facilities.

Traveller's tip on saving a few bucks

London is a great city for walking, with history on every corner that would be missed in a cab or car. We walked all day and only took a cab at th4e end of the day to get us and any shopping back to the hotel. This also saves quite a bit on money that would otherwise be spent on cabs.
