Great hotel, good price, perfect location
This hotel was very clean and the hotel staff was excellent. The location is in walking distance to almost anything you want to see. I would highly suggest it. Warning: the walls are paper thin (as they were in all of the hotels we stayed at in Spain) dont be surprised if you hear the people next door talking.
We were on this trip in early nov. Make sure to bring warm clothes. Average temp was 45 -50 degrees.

Great 4-Star Hotel
Loved this place. Hotel Advance is just a short walk from Placa Universitat (5 minutes) and Placa de Catalunya (10 minutes). The hotel itself is located on a relatively quiet street, out of range of all the chaos associated with The Rambla. The front desk staff were super informative and friendly. I had an excellent hotel experienece and would stay there again.
Get familiar with the subway and train system--its a cheap way to get around.

22 trips to Europe--this is the best affordable hotel weve visited.
This is a fabulous hotel, one wed return to and highly recommend. Particularly noteworthy are the desk clerks, one Dutch and the other Brazilian, both of whom spoke perfect English and provided a host of wonderful suggestions. Our room at the rear (suggested by the thoughtful desk clerk) was quiet, spotless, almost zen-like in its sleek and modern style. No problems with hanging out till noon in our room: the maids literally "waited" for us and then swooped in to change sheets daily and provide as many extra towels as wanted. Breakfast in the hotel was outstanding, but a quick meal at the corner cafe was also fine when in a hurry. We walked to all but the most distant Barcelona museums and restaurants, through safe neighborhoods filled with interesting shops and well dressed people. We cant wait to return to Barcelona and will definitely return to the Hotel Advance.
Off season in Tossa de Mar--one of the most beautiful beach towns weve ever seen. Easy to reach by public bus, with an ancient fort, deep sandy beach, cobbled streets, stucco houses with tile roofs, gardens filled with flowers, seaside restaurants, yummy paella: all make this the best of the Costa Brava.
