An OK hotel in a very good location
On first entering the hotel it was a definite wow experience, the entrance lobby and stairway are beautiful. Unfortunately this does not continue into the rooms. Although clean they are not what I would have expected from a 4* hotel. The main room is ok, with an LCD TV, safe, and minibar, along with adequate storage space. The dated bathroom however was not so great and was in need of a renovation, with its polystyrene ceiling tiles, poor layout and lack of extractor fan(didnt operate). Coupled with the fact that there was no mirror in the bedroom, and no socket next to the hallway mirror it was difficult to get ready after a shower in the very steamy bathroom. While front desk staff on initial arrival were pleasant, they were extremely miserable for the rest of our stay. The breakfast buffet for 20 euros per person was expensive.
Traveller's tip on saving a few bucks
The public transport system, especially the metro system, is easy to use, modern, and cheap. Breakfast can be bought at numerous cafes a short distance away for a fraction of the cost. Eating a meal on the Ramblas can be expensive.

Traveller's tip on local attractions
take the open air buses for the 2 days. It is excelleny value and you can get off and on as much as you like. Watch out tho the large beer is 2ltrs and very expensive , go for a small or ask price before hand

Great Hotel
A few words...great hotel, great location, great staff. When we go back to Barcelona one day, this would be our first choice.
Traveller's tip on getting the most out of your stay
There is a lot to do here. Research the area and have a plan. Take a day trip to Montserrat. In barcelona use the hop on hop off bus. Lots of historical sites. Great Tapas. Enjoy, we did.
