Fantastic Hotel

I booked this hotel for my friends stag do and with 8 of us staying we opted for 2 family rooms. The hotel and rooms were extremely clean, the rooms were really spacious and very comfortable, and the bathroom was excellent in both design and cleanliness. The hotel couldn’t do enough for us, ordering cabs, getting us ice to keep our beers cold, they were fantastic all round and we’d definitely stay there again when we’re next visiting Cardiff. Only downside was having to share a bed with my mate rather than a beuatiful lady but hey, you can’t have everything right!!!

You’re within walking distance or a short cab ride from Cardiff Bay and Cardiff City Centre, so it’s an ideal spot to stay to explore Cardiff and the surrounding areas.

overall ok

Have stayed in this Hotel about 3 years ago when it was new and under the Macdonald chain, now its just starting to show its age. The staff were very helpful and can’t fault their service. We had 2 rooms. The hotel provides free internet via ethernet cable in the rooms, but one of our rooms it didn’t work. The other of our rooms the dressing table was extremely wobbly and the air con didn’t work - but hubby got tool kit out and fixed both. The rooms are fine as long as you don’t check cleanliness too closely - but you can say that about many hotels. Its not near the city centre it takes a good 20mins at a fast pace. The waterfront area is 30mins again at a fast pace. The immediate surrounding area is an industrial estate and is quite run down. Breakfast is continental buffet - not a huge selection but enough to get you started for the day.

Traveller's tip on dining

Can recommend Porto Duo (Portuguese Italian Restaurant on St Marys Road just adj to the Brewery Quarter(Hard Rock, Chiquitos etc). Excellent set menu with a wide choice and 3 courses for under a tenner
