Great location, decent hotel at a good price.
If you want to stay somewhere that is very near South Beach (it’s one block away), very near the Art Deco district (well you’re pretty much in it), with easy access to restaurants, bars, mini markets & food ’on the go’ then the Tropics Hotel is spot on. Location wise, you couldn’t ask for more. As for the hotel, well it’s perfectly good if you’re on a bit of a budget and aren’t too picky. It’s always clean, just little tired looking. The staff are always polite, friendly and helpful. It’s a $21 shuttle from the airport, $30+ cab ride and is somewhere I would happily stay again.

Keeps the fun in funky
We’ve just gotten in the habit of staying here when we visit Miami Beach. No frills. Lots of young European and South American travelers in the place, which also has "hostel" style dorm rooms. Lively, but the walls are thick enough it’s no problem sleeping when you want. Great location in the middle of South Beach. Park around the corner on 16th.

You get what you pay for...
My overall satisfaction with this hotel was a 2, but for the price and location I would recommend to someone. Upon arrival we were given our room keys and we instantly noticed the room had not been cleaned since the last check-out. It doesn’t help check-in is at 11am and check-out is at 11am lol. We went back to front desk and informed them of the situation. They kindly gave us another room and did not apoligize for the inconvinience. The hotel is within walking distance of oceon drive and the beach. All the shops, clubs and restaurants are walking distance. You get what you pay for.
