A Party Hotel - Not good for a good nights rest

Hotel does not have A/C and street outside is VERY lound (music and converstation) until the wee hours of the morning. Good breakfast buffet

Hotel was Good; Not Sure if I would stay again

The hotel has two buildings and the reception area and bar/breakfast area is in one building. The other building requires a code to get into and it does not have an elevator. We stayed in the building with no elevator. It is a pain to take the stairs with luggage luckily we packed light so my husband didn’t have too much to lug to the second floor. Our non smoking room was small or the furniture was badly placed. It was hard to tell. The room was clean and the bed was comfy. Our room also was not facing the street so it was quiet. Overall since we just use hotels to sleep in; the place was fine and was a good price. A Breakfast Buffet was included which was a nice bonus.

Traveller's tip on recreational activities

The hotel is a bit of a walk to the old city and Central Train Station but it is doable. Also definitely take the Funicular to the top and walk back down. You save money and have some really nice sceneries.

Not as good as we expected

On arrival we were told our room was in another building across the road. Had to carry cases, hand luggage etc up four flights of stairs as there was no lift. Attic room with velux window -view of building site! Initially 5 light bulbs not working so room very dark and unwelcoming. Asked for transfer but was offered room in main hotel which was worse - bigger but cold and also dark. Manager arranged to fix lamps in original room and this helped a lot. Room was actually quite comfortable and en suite was clean with good working shower etc. Breakfast was served in main hotel across the road which was inconvenient but reasonable quality. After a bad start we did enjoy our break in Bergen and acknowledged that, apart from the lack of a lift, the hotel was reasonable. Wouldn’t rush back though.

Traveller's tip on getting the most out of your stay

Bergen in October is a bit out of season. Probably better to go in the summer or wait for the skiing season in the winter.
