We really enjoyed our stay at Hotel Bosquet. It was ideal for visiting Carcassonne.
The hotel is about a 25 min walk from the old cite. Along a main road which is well lit at night. Taxi trips were 1o euros. Local bus also an option every hour. The hotel reception staff were very friendly and helpful. They did speak good English but were also patient with my poor French. The hotel itself is clean and comfortable. A couple of things that could be improved upon where the beds - only really catering for couples so no twin bedded rooms. Also the wardrobe was extremely limited hanging space but there was plenty of other storage areas. Shower has excellent. The breakfast is highly recommended at 7 euros for a continental breakfast but it was a good buffet. We did not eat dinner in the hotel and the bar didnt seem to open at regular hours. The hotel is a 15 min walk from a very friendly family run restaurant on the same road to the Cite. Overall we really enjoyed our time in Carcassonne and the hotel was exactly what we were looking for. Clean, comfortable, friendly and in walking distance to the Cite. Some of the other review comments we saw before booking the hotel talked about walking down a country lane - unlit. There was in fact no need to take this road. The main road was a quicker route and was lit. We booked the hotel due to the distance from the Cite and the excellent reports of cleanliness. Those reviewers were spot on.
Traveller's tip on dining
Either eat in the old Cite or at the restaurant on the way back to the hotel. If you decide to get a taxi back then ask the restaurant staff to book it for you and arrange to meet it at the main gate of the old cite. There are no taxis to flag down.

Unimpressed
I was very disapppointed with this hotel. The room was very basic, the decor was very old-fashioned and the location was far from ideal!! In order to get to town there was a substantial walk along a small country lane which meant taking this route at night was very dangerous for a lone traveller such as myself! There was nothing nearby of any substance except a McDonalds and supermarket which were on the other side of a duel carriageway! It was far from ideal when visiting a historic city like Carcassonne. However the staff were friendly and helpful and the hotel rooms were cleaned daily. However these points did not really make up for how basic this hotel was. I felt it was overpriced and thus I will not be visiting again!

Satisfactory
Very difficult to find, and rather spartan in its bedrooms - all right for an overnight stay but probably not much longer. It did however, have an excellent breakfast with fresh, locally baked pastries, and tea making facilities in the room. Hotel staff were helpful.
