comfort? what comfort?
arrived at hotel, reception not open till 5pm. tried to find key. when opened door to room it was like a big cupboard. beds uncomfy, sat on boxes when eating. expected to clean everything in room from list or pay 250 euros. bit of an insult as quaility of room poor.basic rule of holiday. "never go to a hotel which is less comfy than your own home. " well in this case this was not what we expected. big dissapointed.

book everything before you go as you will pay more for ski hire and lift passes when you get there.

Excellent Location
Within metres of the ski lift and has a slope coming home that allows you to ski right up to the door.

Ideal Alpine accomodation
This was my 3rd trip to the Alps and my first to LAlpe DHuez. I was very impressed with the standard of the hotel and the location is absolutely ideal for skiers/boarders. You can litterally ski to the door and the nearest lifts are only about 50yards away and are downhill so you can strap in and go. Les bergers is quieter than the main part of town but is close enough to the old towns array of shops, bars and resteraunts. Staying in the old town would mean dragging equiptment to the lifts and back which isnt ideal so if i was coming back id definitely stay in les bergers again. Ski lockers and bed linen are provided with optional tv. The rooms are a good size and could fit a family of 3/4 or a group of friends. Reception is only open certain times so check with them when you check in if you need anything. Also they ask for a 250euro deposit which must be paid by credit card or cash, they dont accept debit cards for this for some reason.
Traveller's tip on getting the most out of your stay
Le Farmer in les berger (pronounced Le Ber-chay) is good for fondue (around 21 euros per person) and the house wine is dirt cheap and really nice. Tiger cafe is good for drinks in les bergers however if you want to save money drink wine rather than beer as its much cheaper. 3euros will get you a bottle from the supermarche in the commercial centre not far from vvf residence. avoid the pretentious le sporting in old town unless you speak fluent french. Oh yeah, and pack sunscreen!
