Very good value through Expedia saved by booking early
Booked for one night before we went to look around Newcastle University. I asked for twin beds and this was provided - the staff were efficient and friendly. Breakfast was a bit manic with a lot of people appearing to overindulge in the free buffet with food running out quickly. The staff were however very efficient in replenishing - apple juice had run out while we were there and the orange juice cannot be described as fresh - more squash but for the price paid I would say the continental style breakfast was acceptable. I would recommend this hotel for a quick stop but dont expect 5 star quality - you get a clean room with good cable television - slightly upmarket from a Travellodge or Premier Inn.
Traveller's tip on local attractions
Parking is expensive in the city centre and it gets very busy - we were there on a Saturday but I am told it is busy even in the weekdays . Hotel parking is free and if you can I recommend jumping on a bus or taking a short taxi ride t o the centre. Limited for restaurants close to hotel.

One night only
We only stayed one night as we were attending a wedding nearby. Check-in was great we were given access to the room early. When we got to the room it was although there was a big brown stain on the sofa. When we came back late at about 1am the bar was still open so we decided to have a quick drink, we were the only people there the staff said they didnt accept cash so we said ok well pay by card the guy said well have to authorise your card for £30!! even though the drinks wed ordered only came to £10!! It was very difficult to explain we only wanted one drink and we just wanted to pay for it there and then, it took 25 mins to get one drink! Bizzare end to a good night. I would avoid the bar- the staff are particularly unhelpfull and dont seem to want to take your money! I am glad we were only staying one night as there was a general depressing feeling about the place, non of the staff seemed to want to work there or cared less about customers. I doubt ill be back, id advise pay more and stay somewhere else!
