Just Like Inns Should Be

This inn was at one end of the main road; the property next door was an open field with forest just beyond where we saw deer & elk. The reception folks were nice and helpful. The room was comfortable and clean, but was an inside room. Next time I would pay more for a room on the outside. The inn was the perfect size so that we didn’t have to walk a 1/2 a mile to get to any other spot and it was pretty, too. I also enjoyed the nightly speakers from the local wildlife rangers. This was a special touch. If I go again to Jasper, which I want to because of the beauty and the wildlife, which comes right into town late at night, I would stay at the Sawridge Inn again.

Traveller's tip on recreational activities

Jasper has a trail that circles town. We liked Lake Annette with a trail that looped around the whole lake. (45 mins) & the drive to Lake Maligne we saw 2 black bears grazing near the road. Lake Maligne boat ride was pleasant, but too much $$; the alleged highlight, Spirit Island, was a very tiny piece of land with 12 pine trees? (Really just a rock outcrop). The cafeteria at Maligne lake had some of the best & affordable food, like home made stew, soups & beans & the desserts looked lucious.

Good hotel; good service

Stayed 2 nights in July; was given a room with a view of the dumpsters, but on request, the room was changed to my satisfaction. The staff was very accommodating and helpful. It was somewhat expensive, but I think that had more to do with Jasper!

Sawridge Hotel

The hotel staff was wonderful and it was mostly clean and well kept. However, their heating and airconditioning system was awful. It was so noisy, each time it came on it was like an airplane was taking off in my room. I didn’t sleep a wink for the two nights we were there. I would not stay there again just for that reason alone.

Traveller's tip on recreational activities

Greeat hiking, biking, horsebackriding, fishing, sight seeing, and endless other activities in Jasper. The town and the area was awsome! I would like to go back tojasper just to explore more of the outdoors.
