Friendly and Comfortable

I stay at Valhalla to visit my son, who lives nearby. There are other options, but Valhalla is beginning to feel like my Toronto "home away from home". Staff are very cordial, the garden atmosphere is a relief from city cement, and it’s only 1/2 block to catch the bus that takes you to the subway (and thus to City Center). Valhalla has complimentary service to and from the airport, an added convenience. There’s a lounge with entertainment downstairs, which my kids have visited and reported to be a nice place, particularly for a "mature crowd". Rooms are adequate, comfortable and clean. The restaurant has good food (not cheap). It’s not a new luxury hotel, but on the other hand, it’s not pretentious either. I’ll be staying there again and I’d rate it a good 3 1/2 stars.

Definitely not bad at all

My stay was 4 days and a lot of hotel time, and I was pleasantly surprised, especially after a less than stellar first impression of the hotel’s exterior and surroundings. No shopping, squalid res/bus zone, apparently nothing interesting within walking distance... oh boy. But once inside the hotel, I was welcomed by a caring staff and a lovely manicured courtyard that really took my mind off the surrounding squalor. The room was spacious and comfortable; internet very solid and relatively cheap; Room service efficient and punctual; and food very good. I loved that the hotel was not super busy, so I got lot of attention; and at the same time there were plenty of other guests around so I didn’t feel isolated or singled out. I also found a shopping mall within walking distance and in fact enjoyed the walk very much. The mall has decent fast-food style dining and plenty of stores, and I found the food and atmosphere very agreeable. All in all my stay was very good for the price. The only thing I would have appreciated is a newer shower head and blow dryer.
