Quaint little inn

My husband, baby and I went to Newport, RI for Labor Day weekend. We stayed at the America’s Cup Inn and were pleasantly surprised at how convenient it was to all of the attractions Newport has to offer. The place is very quaint looking. The room, which was on the first floor had a homey feel to it, although I husband kept complaining that he felt we were in a fishbowl being that we were right on the corner looking out into the street, or rather, he felt that people could look into our room from the street. He also didn’t like that the room looked like it was straight out of the 1970’s with it’s decor. I thought it was cute. What I thought they could have improved on was the front desk. We arrived to the hotel only to be greeted by a grumpy man, and then the next night, he was replaced by a grumpy lady. Another thing that could be better was the breakfast. There was a LOT to choose from, but not quality food. Omelets were available on a plate, and there were instructions to microwave them (ew). If they improved the breakfast selection, it would be an awesome place.

Only Location

Excellent location is the only thing that this hotel has going go it. My small room was almost entirely taken up by an excessive king size bed. The room was lit by a single bulb in one bedside lamp. I had to keep the bathroom door open to get some light. There is no parking at the hotel (which was not clear to me); they have a deal with the lot across the street for $18.00 per night! So if you want a great location but don’t care about anything else stay here, but for the price it was not worth it.
