Couldn’t fault this hotel, would definitely return
We had a fantastic stay at this hotel. Upon arrival, we were upgraded to a premium room - a very spacious corner room with a huge balcony, providing a great view of the Burj Dubai. Our room, and the hotel in general, was spotlessly clean and well maintained, it looked as though it may have been recently refurbished. Unlike other 5 star hotels which can be ultra stylish and contemporary to the point of feeling a bit clinical, this hotel had a very comfortable and relaxed feel to it. The pool area was great for relaxing during the day - there was never any problem getting sun loungers, and the pool was fantastic. The hotel is in a great location - a short and inexpensive taxi ride from the airport and just across the road from the Dubai Mall. The staff were all extremely friendly and helpful. The hotel restaurants were quite expensive, especially the wine, but you can say that of anywhere in Dubai. The breakfast, however, is huge, so can easily keep you going till the evening. My only criticisms would be that the air conditioning unit in the room was rather loud, so it took a few nights for me to get used to the background noise and sleep through it, and the shower pressure wasn’t amazing, although adequate. However, these are minor quibbles and I wouldn’t hesitate to stay there again on future visits to Dubai. Very reasonably priced too.
Traveller's tip on saving a few bucks
When cashing travellers cheques, best to go to one of the banks in the city. The exchange rate in the hotel, and in the Dubai Mall, is poor. Also - when asking for a taxi, ask for a public one rather than a hotel taxi. They are much less expensive and yet very decent
