AVOID AT ALL COSTS

This hotel was a nightmare. The help was no help. There was no lift and no assistance offered in getting our bags to the third floor. The wall paper in the room was dirty, there were stains on the carpet and the windows opened with great difficulty. We had a wonderful time touring the city and found everyone we encountered to be friendly and helpful. If only those people worked at this hotel. There was one roll of toilet paper in the bathroom. We asked for more and were told that they had to get petty cash and send someone to the store. They never showed up with the TP. We discovered brochures and shoes that did not belong to us in the room when we checked in. We threw out the brochures and they remained in the un-emtpied wastebasket for our entire three day stay. The bed linen was at least clean and there were no signs of any wildlide in the room. For that we were thankful because it enabled us to spend as little time in the room as possible. We toured the city for 3 solid days and just used the room to sleep. On top of all this something in the wall?, under the sink?, in the toilet tank? kept dripping all night. This is by far the worsst hotel I have ever stayed at in the entire world. I would not only advise no one to stay here, I would recommend that Expedia drop it from its roster of hotels it offers.

Great... until there’s a problem

We only stayed here for one night, and there is a feeling of quality about the place. The only minor gripe is the occasional hoover and trollies of bed sheets lining the corridors which didn’t move in the 24 hours we were there. Our room was just fine unti the next morning when the hot water didn’t work. On ringing reception, the girl offered me the key to the room next door. Having a small knowledge of plumbing, I pointed out that there was every chance it wouldn’t work there either. She then suggested a room downstairs in the same block (ie probably still served by the same boiler). I was getting a little annoyed at this because having just woken up, and wanting a shower, I didn’t want to go back and forth to reception picking up various keys to various rooms to work out if the hot water was working in any of them. I asked thet she/they found us a room where the water was hot, then ring and/or drop the key off. After half an hour we gave up waiting and went to breakfast and were told that she’d rung and knocked on the door - which was rubbish because we’d been there waiting for her. In the end we had a shower after breakfast and then checked out feeling glad that we weren’t going to spend another night waiting to see if the hot water was fixed. This is one experience of one night and I’m sure most people will have a perfectly good stay, but I have to report my own experience.

Lift was broken - had three flights of stairs to struggle up with heavy luggage. No assistance offered or available.
