FantasticHotel
This hotel is just beautiful. The decor is a lovely mixture of 18th Century palace grandeur and contemporary style. The bedrooms are large and very clean. This is the only hotel in the town, so if you are looking to get away from tourist hotspots then this is perfect. It is located in the old part of the town, which has quaint cobbled streets and lovely architecture. Lousa is a good base for exploring the famous Schist Villages - either on foot if you are an adventurous hiker, or by car.
Traveller's tip on dining
The food in the hotel is very nice but overpriced for this part of Portugal. We found it best to eat in the town where there is a good mixture of restaurants and cafes - all very reasonably priced.

Good but not excellent
It is a beautiful hotel only a short hike from Serra da Lousa. However, the staff are very young and the service suffers for that. We had three people in a room and while the bed for the two was comfortable, there was only a fold out couch for the third and it was incredibly uncomfortable. I just ended up sleeping on the couch cushions on the floor. And we had paid for a superior room. Not everyone speaks english, but it was never much of a barrier. The Pool is lovely and the hotel itself is beautifully renovated. The town of Lousa is full on wonderfully kind and helpful people.
