satisfied

beyond-expectation neatness and cleaness for a small room. room size is OK given that you are ready for Hongkong scale. Not as expected when taking MTR transportation cuz the hotel is a bit out of the popular range in town and MTR is soooo expensive; but it’s not the hotel’s fault I guess. Would pick the Dorsett Harborview location next time if it’s available.

Small, clean, safe and decent hotel.

Room is small, but very nice, clean and cosy. About 15-min walking distance to Ladies Market and Mong Kok MTR station. Overall, a good experience. But I was told that Dorsett Seaview has similar rooms and rates, and a lot closer to the main shopping strip. I will try Dorsett Seaview the next time.

Extremely worth the price

Dorsett Kowloon isn’t the greatest of hotels, but it’s the top choice for those on a budget. The rooms are small, but comfortable. In my case, I spent most of my time traveling around Hong Kong and Kowloon and only used the hotel for internet and a place to sleep; and, in such a case, it was the perfect selection. Its proximity to Olympic and Mong Kok MTR stations is extremely helpful. While Mong Kok station may be further away, the 10 minute walk is a pleasant one. The 3 minute walk to Olympic station makes travel to and from the airport extremely convenient and provides a faster alternative route to HK Island (via the Tung Chung MTR line) when the more popular Tsuen Wan MTR line is at peak hours. Furthermore, the location of the hotel is great for those who would like to experience the Mong Kok street life. My only complaint would be the price of internet and outgoing calls. The internet is at a descent price if you are using it for many hours, but if you only need an hour or two you are better off finding a WiFi hotspot. For calls, you will get better rates for your money with a prepaid phone or HK sim card than using the hotel phone. I didn’t eat in the Dorsett Kowloon café during my stay, so I cannot comment on that.

I love Hong Kong

Overall it’s a good hotel. It’s in an interesting neiborghhood, you will get a different taste of Hong Kong from the flashy central shopping area. I like it very much. Maybe the same reason, the staffs here seem more layback than hotels in the shopping area.

I will find a better hotel if I would be Hong Kong

The room is real small, but it’s very clean and new. The location is very good, take only 5 minutes to the Metro and there were many restaurants near the hotel. The reception is a bit cooler, you can’t get any information from them. The price is good.

Traveller's tip on getting the most out of your stay

near the METRO station of Olimpics, only 5 minutes if you know the fast pass.

Dorsett Kowloon Hotel (Tai Kok Tsui )

GOOD DEAL! service are very nice and people are friendly, except 1 person work at front desk. the bed cover have stain...this is not nice at all. besides this, i’m fine with the hotel. *** this hotel is not easy to find. if you take bus/ taxi, you better tell them it is opposit to the fire department located on Tai Kok Tsui road, which next to a shell gas station.

Size does matter?

I got this hotel for my Dad, cheap so we decided to try it since he is easy to please and positive. He said it has everything EXCEPT it’s pretty small... it’s so small that YOU wouldn’t even need a chair (there isn’t any) to use the desk because you can reach it from your bed. The refridgerator didn’t chill, more like a food storage box. Good value if you don’t plan to stay in your room.

Traveller's tip on getting the most out of your stay

Easier to get to the MTR if you go to the Olympic Mall (closer, cooler, window shopping too) instead of the (opposite) direction the hotel staff gave me. I found a supermarket across the street on the 2nd floor, too bad the fridge is lacking proper function.

won’t go back

we are lucky that we only stayed in this hotel for one night. it is far from downtown kowloon. I know hotels in HongKong are small. But this one is too small, especially the bathroom. you can’t have two people in the bathroom at the same time. The free shuttle bus starts from 8:00am every day. if your flight departs before 11:00am, you have to take taxi.it is not easy to catch a taxi in the morning in this area.

Traveller's tip on getting the most out of your stay

for the same amount of money, you can stay in Guangdong hotel which locates in downtown Kowloon. we stayed there for four nights. nice location. very close to the subway and water.

Feedback for Dorsett Kowloon

Overall the hotel is good, location is ok, convenient with 5 mins walk to the train station. Bus station to Mongkok is conveniently a min away from the hotel. Food places are everywhere nearby the hotel. Best thing is the free hotel shuttle which takes u to temple street, mongkok & the kowloon train station where u can check in to the airport when leaving! Overall both me & hubby like the hotel & felt that it’s fantastic!

Great budget stay

Perfect for a few night stay in Hong Kong, but may not be suitable for a long stay as the size of the room was very small in comparison to other Hong Kong hotels. Close to olympic MTR station and within walking distance to Mong Kok and all the ammenities there. Overal very satisfied for what we paid

Dorsett Kowloon Hotel

Overall good place to stay. Very small bedrooms and one of the tiny est en-suite rooms I have seen, very like those of a caravan. Not far to the MTR stations of Olimpic and Mong Kok from where almost everywhere is accessible. Evening meals in hotel not too expensive but the charge for breakfast or an occasional cup of coffee is ridiculus as is the charge for anything from the mini-bar.

Traveller's tip on getting the most out of your stay

Although single tickets are inexpensive Always but a MTR day travel ticket as you will save a lot of walking being able to jump on and off the system. Tickets may be available for longer periods

Great value for short people!

Ok, the cost of a room at this hotel made it very attractive. We’d read the reviews and we knew that the room was going to be tiny. However the one thing we didn’t expect was that the bed was extremely short. I’m not unusually tall - just 5’ 11" but I had to sleep diagonally to save my feet and legs hanging over the bottom of the bed. For this reason alone I wouldn’t stay at this hotel again. Rooms were very clean and pretty quiet. Internet access was ok, a little expensive but fairly fast. location was adequate, easy to get a taxi but quite a walk to the MTR.

Leisure trip to Hong Kong at Dorsett Kowloon

The room is very very very small... more like a closet. The TV only had 5 channels. There was no iron in the room. Other than those things it was an OK hotel. The place was clean and the staff was friendly. In a pinch I would stay there again but just be aware that this is not a luxury hotel and the rooms are VERY SMALL.

Traveller's tip

The Olympic Mall and MTR is about 10 minute walk. Lots of restaurants and stores there even a cinema. Nice place.

Convenient

The Dorsett Kowloon is a decent hotel. The rooms are small, but clean and comfortable. The location is nice for walking to the various street markets. Also not too far from a couple of MTR stations.

Traveller's tip on dining

Great dim sum at London House restaurant and reasonable prices during the day (7am to 4pm). Walk to Nathan Road, then turn right, restaurant on the left about two blocks down.

small but cozy

i did alot of research before deciding to stay in this hotel. didn’t have much expectation but hotel ended up doing better than expected. room is quite small, but adequate for 1-2 persons. hotel room is clean, they take their cleaning/house keeping seriously. fresh towel everyday. new bedding if requested. A/C is cold but is adjustable in room. staff ok friendly but only helpful when needed. the housekeeping staff tend to be more courteous than the front desk staff, thou they don’t speak fluent english they will greet you & make you feel like home. the hotel is in a older side of hong kong, but it’s very urban. there’s a 7-11 located around the corner with mini+ bus stops. walking distance to Nathan Road, about 10-15 mins. overall condition of the hotel is satifactory. they also offer luggage storage for travellers w/ flights after the check out time. i will stay there again.

Traveller's tip on getting the most out of your stay

mini bus + bus stop around the corner outside the 7-11 that can take you to prince edward/mong kok. around the same plaza, there’s another bus stop w/ bus that can take you to tsim tsa tsui. 10 mins walk away from Olympic station MTR. ***TAXI: most taxi drivers does NOT recognize this hotel after it has been renamed to Dorsett Kowloon hotel. you may remind them it’s right next to the Tai Kok Tsui Shell Gas station so they’ll know where to take you! very important!!!!!

Way too small

Although clean and the staff being friendly, words of warning this is the smallest room i have ever stayed in, i had booked a room with a window n got just that a window that was frosted over so i couldnt see out, also there were major refurbishment works goin on in the upper floors, after waking up in the morning late 10.00am after traveling for 36hrs was woken up by the most awful drilling n hammering, was making my ears bleed, and there was no notice of this on their website before i left, just a quick apology from reception when i arrived. Hotel is quite far out from the main hub of the city, but not far from transport options. The maids were very helpful and friendly.

Traveller's tip on getting the most out of your stay

If you only hav a few days in Hong Kong then dont stay at this hotel go somewhere more central, as you’ll waste most of your time on the MTR or taxis getting to the sights and attractions.

Traveller's tip on getting the most out of your stay

probably not the nicest location in HK, it is in a very squalid area
