Palacial Lido Palace Hotel!

Extremely friendly staff welcomed us on our first day and they all knew our names before we arrived even though they didnt have photo’s of us prior to our arrival. We had a Deluxe lake view room which contained 3 chests of drawers a very large wardrobe, two bedside tables a 26" lcd tv on a cabinet conatining the minibar. The bed was huge, much bigger than a king size. The bathroom was tiled with marble and tavertine and we had a jacuzzi bath. With 2 full height french doors to the outside worl the room was lit by views of the lake and islands. Breakfast was a buffet serve yourself affair with bacon eggs and beans as well as cereal, toast and pastries. The evening meals were to die for and the silver service matched the food. All in all an extremely relaxing an luxurious break!

Traveller's tip on dining

Check out the Belvedere on Isola Pescatori (spelling) absolutely amazing food and they have their own boat that dropped us back to our hotels privat beach!

Old world charm

We stayed for a weekend only, but had a very nice time despite it raining almost the entire time. Ended up with a spacious room with a view over the car park, then were told we could change to a lake view room if we liked. However it was much smaller so we opted to stay put. Warning for taller people - the beds were quite short - standard size, but they changed it for us while we were out at dinner to the slightly longer one from the lake view room, so we were quite happy.

Traveller's tip on dining

Go to dinner early or book ahead. Some smaller restaurants filled up and were turning people away around 8pm.

Excellent location

The hotel is beautifully located with excellent views of Lake Maggiore and the islands. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the room comfortable and clean. It’s within easy walking distance of the Baveno embarcation point for bost trips, and close to Stresa which has several good restaurants.

Traveller's tip on local attractions

The islands - Isole Borromeo - lovely gardens and good restaurants on Isole Pescatore. Villa Taranto garden at Verbania for garden lovers - you can get a boat from Baveno to the stop right at the entrance.
