Butterfly Beach Hotel

For us it was ..... perfect!!

Butterfly Beach suited us "down to the ground"!! If you’re looking for chilled and relaxed in a near perfect situation then this IS the place for you. The rooms are spacious & basic a small kitchenette area with fridge, 4 ring hot plate etc. We had a room with an island view and balcony, this actually means you look over car park & road but we didnt find the traffic noise to be a real problem and soon got used to local taxi’s beeping their horns! Breakfast was included in our holiday and this although a bit repetative was more than adequate, I had cereal followed by a huge fresh fruit plate every day - fabulous my husband on the other hand went for the other option - cereal followed by eggs, bacon, sausages etc etc. Toast, jam and marmalade was always available as was fresh fruit and coffee/tea! The hotels pool isnt huge but who needs a pool when the ocean is right there on a sm. but beautiful sandy beach, it also has 3 jacuzzis and plent of sunbathing areas but not a lot of shade. The staff are all wonderful but dont expect anything to be done in a hurry - this is Barbados! The hotel has a sm. shop which runs a book exchange!

There are a couple of supermarkets down the road in Oistins where you can eat cheerfully and cheaply in any of the roadside cafes, fresh fish being the obvious choice! The water is safe to drink which is a bonus. The best way to get around is either the buses or "local taxis" which you stop in the road, 1.50 BDS per person per trip, approx 50p - brilliant!! We loved Oistins for the fish market and atmosphere at nighttime. The capitol - Bridgetown is interesting and shopping is good fun although perfumes etc, are cheaper at the airport once you’ve gone through departures. Foul Beach is probably the most beautiful on the Island although swiming there is very dangerous. Hooletown is worth a visit. Most of the Barbados National Trust parks are stunning and the Flower Forest is an absolute "must do", its worth hiring a car to get round to see everything, most attractions are approx. £7/£8 per person

We (two couples) stayed at Butterfly Beach Hotel the first week of November 2009 and had a great time. The hotel is comfortable and offers a good value. The staff is very helpful and pleasant, the food at the restaurant is very good and the beach and water there are just excellent. They have happy hour daily and meal specials. We especially enjoyed their breakfasts and just being able to eat and sit and watch the sea. The beach has perfectly white, fine, sand and the clear, turquoise water is as warm as a bath. We had a rental car for three days and used the inexpensive small white buses otherwise to get around. The local people of Barbados are so very friendly and helpful you always feel safe and secure. We returned to Barbados because of the people and food and the beach and water, and are ready to go again.
