Good place to stay in the city of Almeria
Especially if you are not wanting to be close to the beaches but close to shops etc. Must be the closest hotel to the Centre Mediteraneo (shopping mall) or the big hospital at Torrecardenas if they need to be in your itinary. Restauarant has a good 16 menu at both lunch and dinner times, although when we were there in late Aug 09 we were the only customers, a pity. Good value thro expedia. Would be vastly overpriced at the hotels own room rate though. Wifii in the room didnt seem to work. All round a pleasant relaxing stay.

comfortable hotel outside city center
The Elba Almeria is comfortable, clean and has good service. The room had double beds, a large TV, a fridge (which didn’t seem very cold), and a lovely bathtub/shower. The AC didn’t work very well, however, and there were times when I sat in the room sweating, even with it on. The hotel is far from the center of town, which means you have to walk (more than 30 min) or take a bus (convenient, .95 euros) downtown. This is difficult at night, as it is hard to find a taxi to return. Across the street from the hotel is a large mall with a grocery store and shops. The restaurant at the hotel is expensive for lunch and dinner, but has a 6 euro buffet breakfast (cheeses, yogurt, tortilla espanola, bread, croissants, ham, fruit, coffee, fresh orange juice) that is delicious and a steal! Many rooms seemed to come with the breakfast included...

excellent value
....but go easy on the minibar. Grasp of English at the desk varied somewhat, but very friendly.
