Clean, comfortable and accessable
The Hotel was just as you would have expected to be when you read the bumph. It was clean, room including the bathroom was cleaned every day; the rooms were comfortable and the restaurant was clean, easy to get a good quaility meal from; it was a short taxi ride from the airport (used the hotel taxi to get back and it was cheaper) a simple tram ride gets you into the centre of Riga. The only real gripe I could say was the TV programmes could have been better, no films on that you could watch in the evening, I would not have minded paying a small fee to watch something good occasionally. Overall I have to say that I would go back to the Best and recommend it to a friend.
Traveller's tip on getting the most out of your stay
Go and see the occupation museum it does not look much from the outside, but hits you hard inside. The reality if frightening.

Functional, clean hotel for people with own transport
Best Hotel was about 15 mins from Riga airport and about 15 mins from the Old Town by Taxi. It wasn’t ideal to have to rely on Taxis. From the airport it cost about 7 lats/8 sterling, but the price into/out of town varied from 5 lats/6 sterling - 12 lats/14 sterling. Russian taxi drivers often overcharge tourists. Would be best if you had your own transport, and make use of the hotel’s own taxi when going into town where possible (slightly cheaper). Hotel was in a fairly residential area and wasn’t really near any bars, restaurants, fast food outlets or shops, so when we arrived at 23.30 the Hotel bar was closed for snacks and the nearby petrol station was closed so we couldn’t get anything to eat apart from crisps from Reception. Bar closed at midnight which was a bit of a shame when we arrived late and wanted to wind down. Breakfast was contintental and plenty of it - thumbs up. Rooms were clean and modern, though shower was a bit feeble. Good value for money, but would be better for business travellers than tourists. There was internet access on a terminal in reception but no recreational facilities apart from the bar.
Not ideal for families unless you have your own transport.
