Wasnt too sure... pleasantly surprised

My husband and I get out to Desert Hot Springs about once a month. We have tried the other Hotels or "Resorts" in the area. I have seen the bad reviews for this hotel, Sanctuary. I took a chance, as we have driven by, and noticed that they were doing remodeling. I walked into the lobby, and I was suprised. The floors are beautiful dark wood, it us minimal as far as furnishings but what is in place is VERY nice, and Clean. They are not opening the restaurant, nor the tavern, i belive the hotel is between owners so the current owner is not going that far. I did not get like a map of the property, just a verbal of what our room number was and directions. I actually had to go back in and ask for the room number again, as i was so pleased to tell my hubby that the lobby was nice, and the man behind the counter was super nice, and spoke clear engligh. GREAT! So we parked, walked through, most of the rooms have french doors that open to the pool, which is gated. it was almost dark, but well lit. Our room was tucked away and did not have the French doors. I kind of felt bummed. The room was pained bright yellow, but still not annoyingly bright. the counter was granit and the bed large and soft. the TV was in a cabinet and nice condition. it is not a flat screen but whatever, im not there to watch tv right? There was a balcony with a table and chairs, looking at the back parking lot. the air conditioner is in the wall, and newly installed, but super nice with a remote control for us lazy hot or cold people. :o). I was curious about the other rooms, with the french doors, so my hubby went and inquired about them, the man at the desk gave him 3 keys to see if maybe we wanted to switch. VERY NICE of him. We looked, each room is painted a different color, all nice new furnishings, pretty lamps and nice chairs, plenty of pillows, etc. the interesting thing about these "French Door" rooms, is you think you are opening to a balcony, but its a locked door, that has a room with a private spa. its locked, we were told as the current owner is not maintaining them, so they are drained. If the hotel is for sell, this is a pretty neat feature, if a romantic couple wanted to get away, and have a spa night. kind of cool. so we just stayed with our room, i liked the garden tub in ours. each room had something different, shower, or tub, or both, etc. The pool is quite large and there is a jacuzzi and a wading pool. the lounge chairs are new and quite plush. there is a refrigerator in each room, and a review was correct, there is not shampoo or conditioner in each room. honestly, since we did see 4 rooms, counting ours, one room had wine glasses, one had coffee cups, one had plastic cups, our room did not have any of these, but it did have a refigerator. I had planned ahead and brought my own items, which I think most people do anyways. Over all, it was super clean, comfortable and at a great price. I saved over $40 staying there, and had a super time. I would recommend this hotel, just dont go into it thinking you are staying at the Ritz. maybe a Cheezit. :o) Have a super day, Charli n Eric

worst breakfast we ever had

Let them wait with receiving guests till renovation is done. Breakfast lousy, one(!) muffin and old coffee (no tea, juice etc.etc.)No bubbles in bubble bath, wonder what Spa stands for? Crazy fee for 3rd person in room.

Not impressed, no service, bar, restaurant.

The hotel was isolated, the bank took over. The pool man was repairing every day and we had to wait for him to finish after 10am. My friend got stung by a bee, we needed ice, they said the machine is broken. The pool man brought his 3/4 iced Gatorate bottle to put on my friend wound. The aircondition was not working. The Continental breakfast was only muffins and coffee, no creamer, milk, orange juice ect. I would not recommend this hotel to no one.
