Great Classic Hotel
Santa Catalina was a beautiful, classic hotel in Gran Canaria. We loved that it was different from some of the other hotels on the island--and very historic. Their spa was nice although its a bit strange that you have to walk through the gym to get to the spa room. The jacuzzi and saunas are fantastic and overall, the hotel provided a great stay. The buffet breakfast that we had there was also a class act--tasty, beautifully presented and the times were very convenient. It ran pretty late.
Traveller's tip on dining
Restaurants and a couple of bars are located near the underpass right across the street from the hotel. This is a bit confusing and sort of unassuming but its worth checking it out. Youll find yourself right on the marina with plenty of very charming boats. Its a great atmosphere.

Overall quite good
Overall fairly good however a few points. There is not a lot of information in brochures or the hotel information guide about facilities/things to do beyond the hotel. You have to ask at the desk however once you enquire they are generally good and forthcoming with details. The spa facilities, massages etc are average. The positioning of the hotel is between the two main parts of the town. One end is where the beaches are, the other the old town and commerce part. Its about 15 mins walk to each though there is a shuttle from the hotel (one drop off and pickup per day) to the beach end. Regarding information on the island, we also approached a local tourist information kiosk about other parts of the island but they had no information, they only had knowledge on and could only advise on Las Palmas!
