Great base
Could’t fault this hotel. Staff were great, room clean, great location next door to Gare de Lyon (good RER and Metro links) and within walking distance of the Bastille, Ile St Louis, Ile de Cite etc. Surrounding streets were quiet at night when we stayed (end of October 2009). L’Aubergeade bistro about ten minutes’ walk for excellent food at reasonable price, charming staff!
Don’t miss the trip to the top of the Tour Montparnasse, and make it about an hour before sunset - watch the buildings catch the last rays then enjoy the lights come on. Great view of the Eiffel Tower, too

Good value with stylish surroundings
Stylish and modern with added extras - swimming pool, kids play area with x-box and Apple Mac for internet access. Good breakfast but not cheap! Difficult to find by car but close to tube and station. Let down by cheap bedding and slats missing on pullout bed.

Ideal location
Having been to Paris on three previous occasions and stayed in "tourist" hotels, I would not hesitate to book this Novotel in future. Modern-yes-but very comfortable and quiet, even though it is right next to the station, which makes it so convenient to catch the Metro to anywhere in the city within minutes. Bathroom adequate with small size bath and separate shower cubicle. WC was rather small- you have to stand to the side of the toilet before you can close the door. Having said that, the bedroom was well proportioned and comfortable with internet and email services available via the TV. The rooms are also airconditioned. If you are looking for a quaint, Parisienne type hotel, this is not for you, but if you want comfort, convenience, a good breakfast, a bit of leisure time in the pool or the fitness room, then this should be ideal.
Traveller's tip on getting the most out of your stay
Enjoy a hearty breakfast, put on a comfortable pauir of shoes, buy a day ticket on the Metro and explore all that Paris has to offer, rounding it off with dinner in the Latin Quarter, before a late return to the hotel.
