Hospitality plus
This newly renovated hotel featured great views over the Chao Praya river, an excellent breakfast and restaurant, friendly and efficient staff, and beautifully appointed and comfortable rooms. The hotel was conveniently located near the river shuttles. Rates were reasonable, as we booked and pre-paid in advance. I’d return if in Bangkok again and if the rates remain reasonable.

Convenient to Temples & away from hectic downtown
If your stay in Bkk is primarily to see the sights (Emerald Buddha, Royal Palace, Reclining Buddha) this is an ideal location on the River which allows you to take the convenient river ferries which stop next door (cost 13 baht pp) or hire a long boat. Near to the BTS station reachable by free hotel ferry shuttle) for an easy ride uptown (Buy a day pass for 120 Baht for unlimited journies). In the same hotel row as the Shangri-la and Mandarin Oriental. Just renovated with a nice terrace overlooking the river. Great B’fast buffet with literally EVERYTHING available. Next door to the River City shopping mall with antiques, tailors and restaurants if the draw of downtown & the Sukhomvit area pales.

Welcome to Bangkok
The Sheraton Orchid is well situated on the river bank for easy access to ferries/longtails to take you places up river (Wat Po, Grand Palace, Wat Arun and many others). The hotel was clean, comfortable (choice of pillows), with excellent, friendly service. We only ate at the hotel once and enjoyed dinner in the Thai restaurant, the presentation, service and quality of food was excellent. Overall we enjoyed our stay in Bangkok and would definitely consider returning to the Royal Orchid again when we go back for another holiday.
Taking the river ferries and sky train to get around is a good idea - they are quick and save you getting caught in the congestion of the roads. The Siam Paragon mall is crammed full of designer shops if you want to splash out!
