Perfect in every way!
We have just returned from a mini break at the Neptuno and couldnt be happier, the hotel was fabulous, minimalist yet chic, very clean, room and bathroom was also a good size. Tridente Bar was lovely, service with a smile, great lunchtime snacks and cocktails are to die for albeit a little on the pricy side it is well worth it for the ambience and the view. Location of this hotel cannot be faulted it is right on the beach next to the Valencia Street Circuit (Aug 23rd) so great base for F1 fans! Beach was beautiful and not too busy always plenty of sunbeds. Also the al fresco nightclub opposite was great for chilling out and listening to some cool ibiza classic tunes, it even had day beds to lounge on. Perfect holiday in every way! Am already planning to go back next year.
Traveller's tip on getting the most out of your stay
Lots of restaurants and stylish bars to choose from along the promenade, great pizzeria very reasonably priced. Tram/Metro very near by and cheap to travel around, Colon is handy for some shopping, visit the Old town for culture. Great for couples, families and girls looking for a relaxing break with their friends!

Brilliant by the beach
Cant fault the location, the hotel backs onto the impressive beach and promenade, its only a few kilometers (8-10 Euros by taxi) to the old city. The staff are helpful, the decor is quite impressive and the rooms are modern and very comfortable. I was impressed with Valencia as a city, a lot of my friends were sceptical of going there but all said that they would go back by the end of the trip. The beach is a good 5-7km long with ample of space, its not very touristy, the locals flock there in the evenings and especially on weekends. They had market stalls along the promenade on Sunday evening, it was buzzing with atmosphere. There are two incredible night clubs within a few minutes of the hotel and you wont be short of restaurant or bars along the beach front. The old city was very pretty with some intertesting buildings. The aquarium and art musem buildings are breath taking. I recommend you polish up on your Spanish, the locals arent too keen on speaking English. The resort a few doors down, Las Arenas was very impressive too and I would suggest you also seriously consider that as an alternative if you can get a similar price to the Neptuno hotel.
You can get a metro from the Airport, line 5, to Maritime Sierra and then pick up a tram from there to Netpu. The hotel is about a 1 minute walk to the tram stop. A zone AB ticket only costs 1.9 Euros one way.

A mix of good and bad
Great position, right by the beach. Price of food high, breakfast 19 euros. Rooms supposed to overlook either the port or beach, but ours overlooked an internal water feature which only worked on the first day so the rest of the time we looked at a grey concrete wall! Worst thing was the very unhelpful staff on the reception desk, they were mostly rude and gave confusing or incorrect information. By contrast the bar and restaurant staff were very friendly and efficient.
Traveller's tip on getting the most out of your stay
Do not take travellers cheques, the hotel, local shops and even the local post office and banks will not cash them. The journey from the airport to the Hotel Neptuno is very easy using the metro and tram, getting around the city is OK but more metro and trams are needed as sometimes you end up walking quite a long way. The only way of getting to the city of arts and science is by bus with again quite a long walk to get to the attractions.
