Average
This was a convenient location for the airport, so we were only here one night. The staff were not the most helpful, considering its 4* rating. The room was clean, but the led lights for the aircon kept me awake. The breakfast was a disappointment, although buffet style the food was old and the staff unhelpfull

Good Malaga hotel for the price
The Monte is a ten minute walk from the main train station and 15 minute walk to the Alameda Principal. It wasnt the location I had thought it was prior to our trip, but it was fine, the view is of the port, rather than the sea. The walk along Antonio Machado may be a safer choice to get to the centre on a quiet night, rather than the walk by the river. We had no problems. The rooms are spotless, spacious and the bathroom particularly generous and well sound-proofed from inside the hotel, however, we did experience some noise from the street, albeit traffic was very busy as it was holy week. Reception staff were helpful and welcoming. The Monte was a good value choice.
Traveller's tip on recreational activities
Our trip was the week prior to Easter, a number of attractions were closed on the days running up to Good Friday, central restaurants have special menus (many serving just tapas), with special prices to match.
