SCARY NEIGHBORHOOD
Overall the Hotel is fine if you dont mind going back to your room just for sleep and nothing more. If youre looking for extreme luxury, this is not the place!! Now, here come the warnings, FIRST the Hotel is situated between narrow alleys off of the main street and your taxi will NOT drop you off at the front of the Hotel which is scary if you arrive at night. SECONDLY, the hotel staff (at first) and half of BCN must not like American tourists because everyone gives you the "cold shoulder" and are not too big on customer service, even though we spoke Spanish. Upon arrival, the hotel staff were very uncooperative and dismissive (good luck asking questions), THIRD during our trip my hair dryer and straight iron blew up because the outlet adapter I was provided by the hotel wasnt the right one. But when I told them about it, their answer was “y” or “and?” I was appalled at that answer and wasn’t given a credit!! FOURTH the "free" wifi in my room would only work in one area in the livingroom and you have to sit still so you wont loose your signal. LASTLY Good luck getting any sleep while your there, there are a million pigeons all over the Hotel building and they crow ALL NIGHT long! Seriously the only thing convenient about this place is that everything is within walking distance but be sure to come back before dark! There are other hotels just around the block that are far better. Bookers beware!!!
Buy water at one of the local stores to bring back to your hotel, if you get a place with a kitchenette, buy groceries and save money on buying breakfast and lunch Barcelona is expensive due to the cost of Euros.

Hotel Boria - would definitely go back
Hotel Boria is in an "old" part of Barcelona just off the via Leitana. Our room consisted of two double beds, a lounge/kitchenette, and en suite bathroom. The kitchenette consisted of two hobs, kettle, cafetierre, fridge, freezer and a microwave. Plates, cups, glasses, knives and forks are also provided. The TV has some thirteen channels - the main Spanish and Catalan stations plus CNN, BBC World and Euro Sport (German). In the bedroom we found a safe and a travel cot for a baby. The room was thoroughly cleaned each day. Reception staff were friendly and very helpful. All in all we found this hotel great - we had a great deal of space in our room (two huge wardrobes - one of which contained hangers); it was secure (pass key to use the lifts and stairs); and it was pretty much smack bang in the middle of the City.
The hotel is in a great location - the picasso museum is a ten minute walk away; the old cathedral is a five minute walk. The main shopping area is just beyond the cathedral. On the hotel side of Via Leitana there are loads of narrow alleyways containing shops and bars - we also found a huge indoor market. Sant Jaume metro is just beyond the end of the street - as are the buses and the taxis.

Hotel Boria ( The hidden joy)
Hotel Boria is situated in the Gothic Quarters session of Barcelona; however, there is no need to be alarmed...It was quite safe. The hotel is down one of the crooked, small streets that the quarters are famous for. I thoroughly enjoyed the nearness to La Rambla...
