cheap and cheerful with great location on the beach
pool is not heated at all, reception & front door closes at 8pm so if you arrive late you’ll need to ring the night staff to check in. Small but perfectly acceptable room with a bath, which was an unexpected luxury and greatly appreciated. Breakfast of 8 euro pp is optional and there is a supermarket 3 mins walk away if you want to save money.

Rotten and dirty - BEWARE!
Il de Re is a beautiful place to visit and we would hhighly recommend going. A few pointers though about the Hotel de la Plage need to be noted if you are considering booking this hotel.Don’t be fooled by the exterior photography, this hotel is a slum! We found: The staff are particulalry rude and arrogant, dirty bed linen and grubby interior. Broken shower curtain, taps and generally very unclean. We stayed for 10 nights this summer - never again. The bathroom wasn’t cleaned once (Unless by us!)during our entire stay. When arrived there was dirty feet marks in the bathroom, We assumed from the previous guests? Our room was tiny and dirty on arrival. (Cigarette butts in the room, filfy bed linen with stains all over them and the floor hadn’t been cleaned). The hotel is situated next to a fun fair (I mean right next door too!) so you hear the constant screams of music and commentary from fair staff untill all hours.(We were not in the habit of retiring to bed early either).
Traveller's tip on recreational activities
Hire a bike and tour the island, it is breathtaking and beautiful. We hired 2 mountain bikes that cost around 19 euro’s (both bikes) for the day.
