Carousel Hotel - Blackpool
Arrived at the hotel to check in... Staff were not that friendly, but I suspect it was because they were tired. Once we got inside, I was pleasantly surprised. The room was small, but it was clean and the bathroom was spotless. Only bad thing, was that outside our room there was some sort of generator that was really annoying at night and was a little too loud for us to sleep comfortably.

Probably nicer than some others, but not great
Well, what can you really expect in Blackpool? At least, that was out impression of the place. The hotel itself was at least clean, and our room was fairly nice and comfortable. TV was tiny, cheap, and had three working channels. No room service. Bathroom was recently remodeled, but false ceiling panels kept blowing up and down with the wind. Kind of creepy. Late night food was horrible. Breakfast was ok. For the price, I suppose it was good. It is quite far away from Pleasure Beach and all those main attractions. Near the south end of the beach where all the disco balls are (including the giant one). Street parking around the area is free, and they do have their own car park but it is small and fills up easily.
Traveller's tip on local attractions
We thought wed get to see all the tacky lights along the promenade at night but it turns out they dont turn them on until September, so be warned. Without the lights, it just looks dead at night.

Unusual for Blackpool
I stay at this hotel whenever I visit Blackpool to see my elderly father. This hotel is very clean, modern and quiet. It is a little far from the city center, but a tram runs directly into the center from across the street on the south end of the promenade. The breakfasts are terrific - great selection. The bathrooms are modern and well equipped. The bar serves good small meals in the evening. Overall, I was delighted to find this hotel in Blackpool.
