Wouldnt rush back
We picked the G hotel for a fun weekend away with the girls, it is a nice hotel inside, but does not deserve a 5 star rating, it didnt feel that special, it didnt have a minibar in the room, or tea and coffee facilities and the room had a cold colour, it really lacked appeal and atmosphere, the staff were friendly though,
Mc Swiggans or the huntsman across the road from the G hotel are very good.

Fabulous Hotel in Galway
I stayed at the Galway in mid-September. In the course of an 18 day trip, I am staying in 16 different hotels or B&Bs. So far, the g has been the best. The room was absolutely beautiful, and, though I didnt expect to from what I had read, I also found the lobby and restaurant areas to be quite attractive, if somewhat ecletic. The staff was very helpful, and obviously very well-trained.The only disadvantage is that it is a 15 minute walk from the Quay.

Dark Decor!
I found the bar, hotel reception (and toilets/bathrooms) to be disappointing - black and soul-less! Not a cosy bar as I tend to like. Furthermore the absence of tea/coffee making facilities in the bedroom was a big negative - €4.50 for a cup of tea! I wont be going back! The views from the Hotel very disappointing. Overall an over-rated hotel with far superior accomodation available in other hotels for the same price and possibly cheaper. If budget isnt an issue then it is hard to beat the Sheraton for location, quality and overall presentation. If Budget is an issue then the Spanish Arch Hotel or Jurys Inn are worth looking at!
Taaffes bar on shop street for good Guinness, good trad music and "crais"!
