Decent apart-hotel in quiet location
The Marinasol is located in a quiet area next to Saint Augustin. The rooms are a good size and quite comfortable, however, they were not cleaned every day which we found a bit frustrating. The sea views from the balcony however are very good. There is not much night life around the area although there is an excellent restaurant located next to the beach that serves great food. Avoid the German restaurant next to the hotel as it is overpriced and the service is poor. Overall a good place to stay if you are looking for a relaxing break.
Traveller's tip on getting the most out of your stay
Visit the dunes at Maspalomas as the views and the beach are the best on Gran Canaria.

A most enjoyable week
The accomodation for the majority of guests is a large living room with a balcony for sitting and eating and a well-fitted kitchen at the other end. There was a separate bedroom and a superb shower room. The sofa looked as though it was converible. The staff were all pleasant and helpful. There is a supermarket opposite and a few eating places within a few metres, though the only one we could vouch for was the excellent Acapulco run by an Austrian family. There are two pedestrian routes into the centre of San Agustan which is a couple of kilometres away and has a nice sandy beach. It is very quiet, not much to do on the doorstep, which is to our liking. Having a hire car, we were able to enjoy the sites of the island, though the bus services are said to be good. Most enjoyable days were in Playa del Mogan and Palmitos Park. The interior of Gran Canaria has dramatic scenery not to be missed. Our only included meal and the only let-down was breakfast which was adequate but not wildly enjoyable.
Traveller's tip on shopping
We had a lot of problems finding fresh meat, fish and veg - it was only at the end of our week that we discovered two hypermarkets whose only signposting was from the motorway back to the airport!
