Easy access to train station
The hotel is literally directly across the street from the train station in Rennes, as well as about 15 minutes’ walk from the center of town. Comfortable room, electric kettle provided. The only down side was that the door knob to the bathroom was extremely difficult to open.
Traveller's tip on saving a few bucks
Les Champs Libres is a brand new library and museum complex that is a few minutes’ walk from the hotel. Free internet access is available at stand-up terminals for 15 minutes at a time - perfect for checking in for a flight.

Great on a budget.
The hotel is opposite the train station and is with 5 minutes walk of the centre of Rennes so it is a very handy place to position yourself. There is a metro line in the station which can take you to the centre in no time at all. very easy to use. The hotel itself is basic but clean and tidy. For the price it is a bargain because you tend to be out most of the time anyway.

Ok for a two star.
The two star Hotel Kyriad, Rennes, in well situated opposite the SNCF railway/metro station, it’s just a minute or two away on foot. The hotel has a small reception area, and room was clean and of a good size. I have stayed in three star hotels which have not been as good. Rooms have traditional CRT tv, minibar, air conditioning (though the hotel has control over when this operates, and was turned off sooner than I would have liked in the morning), tea/coffee making facilities, etc. The windows were double-glazed and the room was therefore very quiet, even though it overlooked the front of the hotel/railway station area. The bathroom was very clean and of a good size. The only fly-in-the-ointment, was a battery operated air freshener on the bathroom wall. This frequently created a mist, an innocent device one would have thought, but it decided that it was not happy rather early in the morning and started beeping loudly every few seconds. I could stand it no longer, and the opened up this annoying little device and removed its batteries, which restored the silence! Overall, a good hotel.
