Just a Short Walk to the Gibraltar Boarder

This sea front hotel is just a short walk from the boarder to Gibraltar. Although only a 3 star rating, we found the staff most friendly and accomodating and the desk staff spoke good English. The rooms were clean and tidy if a little spare, however, our room face the sea and had a balcony. Breakfast was a typical Spanish buffet of cold meats, bread etc. The hotle also provids a menu of the day for lunch and an evening meal at very competative rates. Great for that overnight stop before visiting Gibraltar.

If you don’t want to eat at the hotel, then why not try the Chinese restaurant or Indian curry house just next door. We tried the Indian food and it was of the highest quality and I was raised on curries in Bradford!

Faded grandeur

The staff were helpful and pleasant, but the hotel rooms were poor. The balcony curtain fell down when we tried to open it and there is a lack of maintenance and care all round. The breakfast was good and the value of the room was excellent, but you need to watch out for insects in the rooms. The hotel is in a redevelopment area, so the environment is rough and you had best order a taxi to go to Gibraltar or the town centre. Sunrise views over the Med from balconies are great.

Traveller's tip on dining

El Barco restaurant on the promenade on the west side of town. Plaza de la Constitucion, town centre, lots of places to chose from
