Laguna Maldives
I stayed in one of the overwater bungalows, and the extra cost I am sure was worth every penny. The accomodation itself was excellent, although a little external decorative upkeep would not go amiss, although this does not really detract from the accomodation experience. The food in the Italian and Chinese restaurants was good, but not excellent, I did not try the buffet restaurant. The real food jewel was the barbeque restaurant and not only was the food of an extremely good standard but the setting and service were also noticeably better. The biggest let down of the resort was the service. On several occasions we asked for various simple and normal things, varying from a drink at the bar to laundry cleaning or restocking of the minibar, and although the service was promised the product or service did not arrive, requiring further requests. This I think is compounded by the fact that a standard 10% service charge is tacked onto the bill and so the personnel do not feel the need to improve their service levels to attain additional money. Improved service does not get rewarded by additional tips, thereby removing the need to enhance the level of service provided.

excellent hotel
I have just returned from an excellent few days on the Maldives island of velassaru staying in the hotel Laguna.The hotel staff couldnt do any more for you and nothing was too much trouble.The rooms were cleaned twice aday with ample clean towels and bedding.I would recommend this hotel.
