Good hotel but in need of more efficient staff
Upon arrival, was pleasantly surprised by the size and cleanliness of the room. Car park is small, so you may need to park elsewhere. The most disappointing experience was at breakfast. The non-english staff seemed to struggle at providing a good service. There are not enough tables for customers, causing us to stand waiting for 15 minutes. Tables do not get cleared and relaid. We had to sit on a table with the dirty crokery and cutlery from the previous customers.....the mess did not get cleared for the whole time we were there and the waitress tried to give us the jug of used milk from the previous party! Breakfast buffet is not topped up quickly enough e.g the bread basket was empty for approx. 20 mins. Customers had to resort to taking butter and preserves off of other tables as new tables were not laid. Food was good, but the breakfast service was possibly the most shambolic I have seen!
The hotel is located in a nice village, where there are nice pubs and restaurants. The Cotswold safari park is also a lovely attraction to visit nearby.

Cute, but ...
This is a very cute hotel, full of nooks and crannies. Gym was excellent (although the equipment was old), pool fine, bar excellent. Food (at least, breakfast)only so-so. Plumbing in the bedroom could use some maintenance - low water pressure, no shower curtain, some fittings loose. Overall - nice atmosphere but a little short on mod. cons. Fair for the price.

Beware the Canopy beds
Booked a 4-poster bed at the Crown and Cushion and was given a room with a canopy over the bedhead. Assumed this was a local variation so left things as they were. This was a bad mistake as the bed turned out to be the most uncomfortable that my wife and I have ever slept in. We realised in the morning that it was barely a proper bed at all - merely one that folded into the wall, under the canopy. The hotel owner acknowledged the next day that they had put us in the wrong room but flatly refused to refund the difference between this cheaper room and the one that we had paid for. Not happy and would not return.
