Good Value
Having visited a number of game reserves over past 5 years, I would recommend Zulu Nyala Game & Heritage Safari Lodge as a very good value safariLodge. Accomodation is not luxurious in way of resorts such as the Sabi Sands area, but neither is the price charged. The staff are friendly and very helpful. The wildlife in the reserve is good and all can be seen with exception of lion and cheatah, which are not in reserve. The game drives were well organised and informative, with guides catering for those in the LandRover. We were fortunate to even see a leopard and cub, but this is a rare sighting. The adjascent Shu Shule game reserve (about 20 min away) has all the big 5, including lions, but because of size may be more difficult to see them, and probably lacks the personal attention that we felt at Nyala. The golf is different, where else can you need a guide to show you where to drive...aim for the zebra!
Traveller's tip on getting the most out of your stay
See four of big 5 in Nyala, and go to adjascent park to see lions. Visit the fim set (I dreamt of Africa/Kim Bassenger) or hire video to see what the reserve is like.

Nice, pleasant and wild
We stayed here for 8 days and enjoyed it till the last day. The complex is located on the top of a hill with a nice view of the surrounding area down below (even from the swimming pool). The room was comfortable and clean. Only "bad" thing perhaps to mention is the tap in the bathroom looking like ready to fall off. We loved the early mornings when in front of the room warthog family was running around and vervet monkeys jumping on the thatched roof of our room. The water in the pool looked milkyish but very warm and enjoyable. The staff was nice and polite and always ready to smile. They were cleaning the rooms each morning, so if we wanted to leave the lodge right after breakfast, it was better to take the bags with us. It is a good idea to have a car there, if one wants to be independent and explore the wider area on its own. The road to the lodge off N2 highway is bumpy, dusty and very safari like and it takes about 30-40 min to get to the lodge. But it is already like a self-guided drive through a game reserve with plenty of impalas, kudus, warthogs and nyalas around. And last but not least, the food is really good and aplenty. Definetly taste the delicious impala meal.
Traveller's tip on shopping
Visit the nearby Hluhluwe town with everyday markets and local shops. But dont forget about small Zulu villages, especially around 2pm when all the kids go home from the school.

Nice place to stay
Beautiful setting and friendly staff. The room was a little worn, but was clean and spacious.
