Surprised

We took the subway from the airport. I am 6’, bald, and have tattoos...I was somewhat aprehensive about walking in that part of Athens after dark. When we got to the hotel, we were surprised at how "upscale" it is (when you pass the doors. We were met with a smile and were asked what they could do to make our stay more comfortable.

Do able for one night

We were just passing through Athens, so it was perfect. 15 min walk to the Plaka. The area does seem a little dodgy, but staff said it was safe. There was a just a lot of men outside selling stuff. Fine during the day. Clean, decent hotel. Could probably find something as good even a street over would be a better area.

Use public transport. Metro system is really good. Don’t bother with taxis. Walk to the Plaka, get the train from the airport, and train to Pireaus port was a easy and cheap!

ECONOMY HOTEL/NICE STAFF/BAD AREA

This hotel is near the Omonia metro station which is quite dangerous. Although we weren’t bothered, we didn’t feel safe and were on-guard when we would head back to the hotel at night.
