Great location, funky budget hotel.
Great hotel, the staff were super friendly and helpful at all times! We were really impressed by our room, the bathroom was huge with a massive tub for swimming in. Really clean and a good size, perfect location next to Blanche metro, couldnt have asked for more! Only small complaint was that the room was located right next to the breakfast room and the staff clearing up only seemed capable of speaking at one volume - LOUD! However we were given a choice of rooms, so it was our own fault! THere is a great patisserie round the corner, (out of the hotel turn right towards the Moulin Rouge, then take the first turning on your right, its just up the hill on the first corner on your right) amazing pain au raisans!! Whatever you do, DONT GO TO THE COCKNEY BAR!!!!! I know the name says it all, but it was one of the few bars that seemed busy early in the evening and had seats available outside, the cocktails are disgusting, im not fussy and would generally eat/drink anything without making a fuss, but we had to send our drinks back twice and in the end just left, seriously gross! Great trip, although without wanting to sound like a broken records, bring your credit card, we live in London and are used to paying London prices - Paris is in a league of its own - SOOOOO EXPENSIVE!
Saint Germain was great for bars and restaurants.

Keep an open mind
No need to keep an open mind about the hotel itself, its smashing, rather its the area that it is in that may put some off. Some will find Bvd de Clichy a rather off-putting locale. Alongside the famous Moulin Rouge there is a grubby collection of sex-shops and peep shows but despite this the overall feel was lively rather than threatening and for us it wasnt a problem. The other side of the location coin is the proximity to Montmatre and it literally takes only a couple of minutes walk to escape the grime of the Boulevard and find yourselves in the almost village like atmosphere further up the hill with many decent cafes and shops that feel more local and less touristy (and consequently without so much of a cost premium) than in other areas. Access to the metro system couldnt be better with a station practically outside the front door and this makes it a perfect base for exploring the city. The hotel itself is good value. Its design is well thought out and very comfortable without being lavish. Rooms are not huge but they work well. Staff were friendly, helpfull and spoke English. Only minor quiblle is the insistence on replacing soap and plastic wrapped plastic cups every day. Rather more wasteful than is surely necessary but we would still not hesitate to recommend the hotel and would happily stay there again.
