Perfect location!

This hotel is located right in the middle of Barcelona, on the corner of the Rambla and you couldn’t get any more central than that. We were able to walk EVERYWHERE, including up to the Miro museum which is up the mountain. However, the rooms are small after American standards (ours apparently the smallest on the floor at 14 cubic meters) and not very modern/updated. After extensively travelling in Europe for many years, I can honestly say that the size of my room was pretty standard to most European hotels. But many American travelers may be surprised by this. On a positive note, the rooms are very clean and have everything you need. Location, hard beds (surprisingly comfortable), clean bathroom, super nice and helpful staff, AC (for which there is an on/off switch only - no regulator) and TV (which you won’t even need with all the stuff to see in Barcelona). I would recommend the hotel, but keep in mind the rooms are small and that this is not a 5 star hotel. You get what you pay for, and for this price I loved it.

Traveller's tip on dining

Best tapas in town? A restaurant called "Bilbao Berria" right on the square in front of the cathedral. You haven’t had tapas & sangria until you’ve been here. Many other restaurants are very "touristy" and not very good. If you get tired of tapas 24/7, try the excellent pizza or veal dish at a restaurant called "Divinus". Unfortunately, I can’t recall the location.

Affordable hotel in great location

Really enjoyed my stay at this hotel. Great location at the North end of Le Rambles. All the convinence but less of the noise! Rooms were simple but clean. Breakfast was worth the money. Staff were friendly and spoke English (which made up for my poor Spanish!)

Get a different hotel

I don’t understand why the hotel got such good reviews on the websites. I wish I had stayed somewhere else. I’d rate this hotel at a step above a hostel. First of all, make sure you get an interior room if you stay here. I had to have my room changed because it was impossible to sleep in an exterior room because of the noise from the plaza. There is no sound proofing in the hotel, so even in an interior room, you will still hear everything from the halls. The first room had dirty sheets on one of the beds. The A/C in the rooms has two settings: hot or very cold. The elevator broke while I was there and it was a four flight walk up to my room after a long day of sight seeing. The bed was uncomfortable. On a good note, the hotel is very central and the continental breakfast was reasonably priced and good. The wifi was free and the staff was very knowledgeable about the area and was friendly. Be sure to read all the fine print when booking on hotels.com. I missed the fact that my hotel stay was pre-paid so I couldn’t switch to a different hotel.
