Central by University. Still under renovation, but friendly and clean

We drove from the airport at night - relying on Google maps. I’d seen the hotel on Google Street view which was helpful, but the big vertical sign was camouflaged by scaffolding. The hotel is being renovated. It was the only place I could get a room that Thursday. The room was minimalist , but comfortable and clean with a big balcony above the street. Good breakfast next morning. Wheels still on hire car in street.

Traveller's tip on dining

We ate a very late supper (11-12pm) at the little family restaurant opposite the hotel - very friendly with a meal all arranged without a men. A rich red Puglian wine, delicious antipasti followed by a large grilled fish, dessert, limoncello and espresso for 35 euros each. A bit expensive but very friendly with a delightful grandpa with a white moustache.

Adequate but Unimpressive

I would recommend this place only because I don’t think there are a lot of options in Bari. it is allegedly undergoing renovation and it needs it badly. It is tired looking and doesn’t offer much in the way of amenties or charm. The street side is very noisy - we had to be moved to a room in the back. It is relatively convenient to the train station, but a bit of a walk from the old town. The hotel offers a decent breakfast, but there is no restaurant in the hotel and (unbelievably for Italy) no decent dinner options anywhere nearby.

We were travelling around Italy and this hotel really was a let down

The Hotel is going through a refurb at the moment and whilst the reception and breakfast area are quite plush the corridors and our room was shabby, a long runner thrown over the main corridor carpet ,we assume to protect it from builders boots was a trip hazzard, only one lift working, and the rooms were stuck in an early 1970s timewarp. On the plus side the breakfast was very good and the location of the hotel was good in relation to the the station and nearby airport as well as shops etc.

train and bus travel are exceptionally good value for money in Italy and run fairly well to time. if you are flying out of Bari and decide to take the bus make sure you allow plenty of time, the traffic in Bari rivals that of Milan in rush hour! Check out the local small eateries ,we found a pizzaria two streets from the hotel and had an amazing 5 or 6 courses including really good pizza for less that the equivalent of £15
