I would stay there again

Everything was great except my bed ,I wanted a king size and I got twin , but I guess after all it is not such a big deal.

Traveller's tip

This hotel is located less than a mile from main train station and about 15-20 minutes walk from City center , you can also take a bus (bus stop next to hotel) and buy family ticket for all day it will cost you only 6.50 euros.

Really uncomfortable, not recommended.

It was extremely hot, with no screens or fans. Beds were hard, the bathroom tiny and not as clean as I would expect. The noise level, even with the windows closed, was really high. Our room was 10 away from the stairwell and we could hear people going up and down all night. Breakfast was minimal (bread, cold meats, coffee) and extremely expensive, so we declined it. The staff tended to ignore all guests unless approached directly. We did not meet any English speaking staff. Only positive was that the rooms other than the bath were large. Not recommended at all.

Great value but a bit noisy

I can’t fault the hotel for value for money or service. It is conveniently located next to a bus stop with a frequent service into town and the main railway station is about a 10min walk away. My only complaint would be the noise from the traffic in the side street which seems to get a lot of trucks and buses in the wee small hours. It would be better if the room had air-conditioning and we didn’t have to leave the windows open although I must admit that after a couple of days I was sleeping through it.

Large Apartment Hotel Room

This hotel is situated about 10 mins walk from the train station slightly away from town. Town is approx. 30 mins walk. We where back backing around Europe as a family and the location wasn’t a problem as it was good value for 4 people with breakfast included booked through hotels.com. We used public transport, 6 Euros for an al day family pass and the buses stop just outside. If your on a budget then this is for you, if you like to be in the centre of town and pay the price then look elsewhere.

Good Location

The hotel was outside of the old city, but directly on a bus route, only 3 stops away. Right next door was a delightful restaurant, Stammhaus, which also had an outdoor beer garden. We had a suite, which we shared with our children. There was a private bedroom, a bathroom and then the living area which was set up with the extra beds. The only odd thing was that there was a room when you first stepped in, with totally wasted space, only the bathroom was there. They could have made it a small sitting room.

This hotel is great for families, much less expensive outside of the old part of Dresden, but with family tickets for the bus, very affordable. Don’t miss Haselbauer, directly across the street from the bus line in Dresden. It is a local favorite with freshly baked waffles, filled with scrumptious cream!!

Not impressed for the money

In our notes, we requested a non-smoking room with a double, queen, or king bed. I know they aren’t obligated to read the notes, and they didn’t. We had a room that smelled like smoke, and two twin-sized beds. The window had no screen, and was right over the dumpster on a busy street. So opening the window to cool the room (no A/C) meant flies would come in. You can hear cars at night, but it wasn’t too bad. They don’t have ice machines or buckets. The concierge gave us a small cup with ice. Nice effort, but failure in execution. It was also further away from the train station than I hoped. Nothing going on in the area. No restaurants, bars, banks, etc. Next time I’ll spend a few dollars to be closer to the center of Dresden.

Traveller's tip on saving a few bucks

Grab a quick breakfast at the train station, since the hotel breakfast is overpriced, and the only restaurant we passed never seemed to be open.

Needs Airconditioning

This was a very nice hotel and the restaurant next door was excellent, however, it is located on a very busy main street and it is quite noisy at night so the windows have to be closed even in the summer since there is no air conditioning.

It was one of the nices hotels we stayed in 4 weeks in Germany

We liked the location and it is next door to the Famous Feldschloesschen Brauhaus. The Brauhaus has great Food and the entertainment is great. The Hotel has a beautyful Breakfast Buffet.

Was good and efficient

a medium sized hotel. Got there late and not a problem with my room being available at 2am in the morning (not always so!) Good, friendly hotel staff and very efficient on wake up calls and helping out. Now ability to get a cash point at hotel (nearest was 2 miles away!) so be careful if you call a cab and don’t have cash on you. Good value in Europe

Staff

Staff of hotel did not speak English well. Staff was not knowledgeable of local attractions. No ice was provided on floor. Internet access was expensive. No coffee in room or lobby.

Good value but more 2 star than three

A very clean hotel with good service. It is on the main road to the motorways out of Dresden and the rooms are somewaht noisy with the windows open. A bit of a problem with temperatures in the high 80’s as there is no air conditioning. A good buffet breakfast and not crowded. Probably more of a 2-star hotel but very good value.

Traveller's tip on getting the most out of your stay

The brewery restaurant next door is very good value and an attractive place in which to eat. We ate there for four nights and the average cost for four people was 90 Euro including drinks. The 82 bus from outside the hotel runs every 10 minutes and goes to the old town. It only takes 5 minutes or so. You can change at the stop outside the big new Karstad and get lots of trams. The 3-day travel card is good value . Dresden is a very attractive town with lots to see and the transport is excellent.

Brewery next door -yes. Achat Hotel no

The hotel is dated and on a busy road leading to the Autobahn. The rooms do not have air-conditioning and with temperatures in the 30’s (Celsius)we had to have windows open. Our sleep was further disturbed by frequent lorries using the adjacent side road throughout the night. The addition of AC would make the hotel more acceptable particularly having regard to the excellent brewery/restaurant next door and the room price.

Great value

Great hotel, very good value with wonderful buffet breakfast included in price. My only critcism is the fact that the ’kitchenette’ had not a single piece of cutlery or crockery so couldn’t make use of it!

Very clean and well maintained hotel, wide variety of food at buffet breakfast, helpful staff

We stayed here for five nights over Christmas ’07. The room was very clean with a comfortable bed. For a big person the toilet/shower room might seem quite small with a separate basin area outside, but it was fine for us. Although on a main road, we were not disturbed by the traffic, but could occasionally hear voices, the toilet flushing, hairdryer whirring and TV in the adjoining rooms. Brilliant buffet breakfast with a wide selection of food and drink. Small bar area next to reception with wide screen TV. The staff were very pleasant and helpful (we needed extra bedding, which was quickly provided). The brewery / restaurant next door is really convenient if you don’t want to stay in the city centre in the evening. There is a Lidl supermarket nearby, but apart from that you need to go into the city; it’s about a 15 minute walk to Neumarkt or the No. 82 bus goes from opposite the hotel and takes 5 minutes (get off at Prager Strasse). From the airport, the S2 train takes 23 mins to Hauptbahnhof, then you can take the No. 11 tram one stop to Budapester Strasse. You walk up some steps to the level of the overpass and then it’s about a 5 min walk beside the dual carriageway to the hotel, but if arriving in the dark, it’s not easy to distinguish the hotel in the distance. The Hotel Achat provided a comfortable base for sightseeing in Dresden and I would stay there again and recommend it to others.

Traveller's tip on getting the most out of your stay

As a couple best value was to buy a 4 Euros daily ’family’ travel ticket, which can be used on trams, buses and trains in Zone 1, including to/from the airport and are available from machines at train stations and main bus / tram stops in the city, but there’s no machine at the bus stop opposite the hotel. You have to date stamp the ticket in a machine on the station platform (or inside the bus/tram). Ask the hotel for a map, which includes the local transport.

Immaculate Hotel

The room was very cosy, modern and clean; further more kept that way. Good German perfectionism Breakfasts plentiful, large pot of great coffee, hot and cold buffet (self serve) - selection of cheeses and cold cuts. Late bar if yoiu like. Cant believe it was cheaper than most tacky English B and B’s.

Good place

The room is large, two rooms actulally. The kitchenette was a pleasant suprise - two cooking hobs, kettle. It would have been nice to have some tea bags and cups with the kettle. It is not actually in the Altstadt. It is close to the railway station, and about 1 odd km from the main Altstadt - old city area with all the sights.
