Won’t Stay There Again
Overall the stay was OK. the main Factors are: On Saturday we went out exploring and were supposed to meet a friend at the Hotel around 3:00PM. We arrived back at the room at 2:45 to find that it had not been cleaned yet! Our friend was in the lobby waiting to come up so I had to clean it myself on vacation. Also we went to pick our car up from the valet. The valet handed my husband the key, and it was broken and the renal company’s keychain was crushed. They handed it to my husband in a plastic bag and said it was like that when they got it. My husband went to the manager with theese issues and of course he said he was sorry, but that was the extnt of it.

Wash DC Experience
Beautiful and modern - I loved the way the shower curled out into the room - like a snail shell. I’d definitely go back. Here’s what else I would have liked - 1) a light switch near the door, right where you enter the room; 2) a chair! I’ve never seen a hotel room without one; 3) a shower cap - I loved the shower with the water coming down (from the lowered ceiling) like rain but needed a shower cap if I wasn’t washing my hair. Thanks!

Welcome relief.
After booking in at another hotel on Expedia and finding that the map we were shown online was wrong (and we were in fact in a dodgy area of Washington near Navy Yard) it was a welcome relief to arrive at Donovan House. The room was small, but very stylish and comfortable with a large bathroom. We were looking forward to a drink on, or simply a look at the rooftop deck, but found this was locked without explanation. The location is central, but not close to the metro, monuments or restaurants and night life, so some walking was involved. Hotel staff were friendly enough. Beware, as the lifts and lobby take on a distinct odour in the evenings!
