Ok but nothing special
This hotel is well located in that it is right next to the beach. It looks pretty awful though and the standards inside are not really 4 star in my opinion. Look elsewhere if you can.

Aging hotel - Outstanding breakfast
The hotel is old, circa early 80s, needs update and renovation. The room had a faint sewage smell, it smells of tobacco smoke in the hallway even though the floor is non-smoking. There is free parking in the back, but fills up quickly if you come back late at night. There is street parking to be found around the neighborhood. Very nice location, 2 blocks from the beach and 2 blocks in the opposite direction to shops an restaurants. The breakfast is spectacular, it is the best of all the breakfast we had at other hotels on this trip. The breakfast room on the 8th floor has a stunning view of the surrounding beach/coast.

Good value hotel
We decided to stay at this hotel despite reading the somewhat mixed reviews of others and would agree with comments that the hotel is dated and in need of refurbishment, especially the balcony area.Reception area was modern, room and bathroom were clean except for a few dusty bits on the bedside table and picture frames (but we are sticklers). We would still recommend the hotel because the condition was reflected in the price we paid and it still represents good value.Definitely book a sea view as we did.Reception staff acknowledged us as we came and went but we were generally ignored by the waiting staff at breakfast.Breakfast was adequate, typical continental with a few cooked items and is served on the 8th floor with very good views of the nearby beach. The hotel is in a quiet location and even the town square behind the hotel where all the restaurants were located wasnt particularly inviting.Locally,we only tried a Mexican restaurant, El Sombrero, on the seafront which we recommend.Staff were friendly and food was good. For a day out take the train to Estoril (12mins) and walk along the promenade to Cascais(20mins).Really good choice of restaurants in Cascais. If youre planning to go to Sintra, which we recommend, you need a full day as there is lots to see and it takes a while to get around the palaces and castles.Be careful not to miss the last bus down the hill (6pm when we went at end of December) as there were no taxis available to get back to Sintra train station.
Traveller's tip on saving a few bucks
From the airport, take the no 44 bus (Eur1.40) or no 91 bus (Eur3) to Cais Sodre. From there take the train to Carcavelos (Eur1.70).Youll save a fortune in taxi fares. The hotel is a 15min walk from Carcavelos station.
