Gone glory
Needed a hotel with internet in the centre of pretoria moving through for business. The rooms are nice, but internet is not included in the room rate and is very expensive, and neither is the parking. All in all its an outdated hotel only suitable for travel groups on cheap bus package tours. roomservice is decent but the breaky...run before the tour groups have pillaged and plundered!

Reasonable base camp
My girlfriend & I stayed in April 07, the hotel is plesant & well maintained, but the decor is a little tired. The staff were polite & friendly (they let us check in at 10:00 in the morning). We were meant to be on a road trip around S.A. but the car broke down, however the hotel was able to put us up for the extra night & because they have their own minivans & taxis (4 in total)they were able to run us around (for a minimal fee, added to the bill) while the car was being fixed. The food was nothing special, but was filling and reasonably priced - we had breakfst & dinner each day. There are always plenty of staff around to help if needed. Although close to sunnyside,which has a slightly dodgey reputation, all the locals were pleasant, & we had nice walks around without feeling unsafe. We would definitely go back to use the hotel as a base camp to explore the Pretoria area.
Some of their taxis and minivans say arcadia, some don’t - if using them try and make a note of the number plates of the cars as it may not be the same driver to collect you, and trying to find a stranger in a strange car could cause problems.

Gem of a Hotel
I was really pleased with my 6 night stay at the Arcadia Hotel. The Staff were really friendly and helpful and free transport is provided within Pretoria. Bedrooms were kept very clean,although furniture is a little old fashioned, tea and coffee always available, and a safe in the bedroom. I would definately recommend this Hotel. Superb value for money.
Traveller's tip on saving a few bucks
Contact the Hotel for airport transfer, it is 100 Rand cheaper than the Johannesburg tourist taxi transfer. There is no airport bus between Jo’burg & Pretoria.
