Location..location
Excellent for our requirements. Central location and friendly reception staff. Not suitable for people unable to climb stairs to third floor. Good value for a central site.

Just right
Great place to stay, so close to the heart of Venice. We were so glad we chose somewhere central - it makes all the difference. We ended every day with an evening walk around Piazza San Marco, listening to the music groups playing. We had a family room down the street - which was just fine. No internet there, and none in the hotel unless you have your own PC: Id say best to reckon on none at all, leave the laptop at home and enjoy Venice. Breakfast was good: cereal, fruit, bread in various forms, cheese and jam, fruit juice, tea, coffee, chocolate, all served on the roof-top. We were the last to leave. Getting there: we walked from Piazzale Roma, with cases, which was memorable but hard work, and not everyones idea of fun. Returned by vaporetto up the Grand Canal.
Traveller's tip on dining
Lots of options: Menu Turistico is generally good, and you know just what the bill will be. We loved Campo Santo Stefano, also east of Piazza San Marco towards the Greek area, and had a good 3 course dinner on the Grand Canal overlooking Rialto on our last evening: just head directly north from Locanda Antica.
